Getting back into Marvel Heroes with Civil War content!

It's been so long since I touched this game.. but after watching the movie I wanted to get back in, especially with the new Civil War event on this MMO.

Here's the details of the ongoing Civil War event on this free-to-play MMO.

You know how it is with some games where if you don't play it for a long time, you just don't feel like getting back in. Just too many things to catch up on, game-play changes etc. While it was confusing initially, I have been spending quite a lot of time on this game in the past week.

With the birth of my 2nd child just a week ago, it's been a bit difficult to get on the PS4 and continue with Uncharted 3 which is very story-based. So, I have been playing this where it is easier to get off the game and tend to the kid/wife if the need arises.

Highly addictive and it's free. Looking forward to see if they will have any event going on for X-Men Apocalypse!

Come join me if you like!

Marvel Heroes Diary: Jun 17 2014 - Gifts Galore and Raids

Gifts Galore and Raids

1st Year Anniversary was awesome with the gifts. Plenty of items that the Inventory could barely handle.

Not so lucky on the Fortune Cards again..

Gambit's Death Costume was also released!

Looks cool but I find his hair too anime-like.

Also had my first taste of Raids with my SuperGroup-Chillicrap.

The team members were great in explaining the mechanics so I caught up fast. Managed to beat HellFire and Brimstone on the 2nd try but Slag was just too over-powering. Really need to change things up a bit.

The Shared Quests are a great new way to earn Odin Marks without having to slug through the Legendary Quests over and over again. Almost at the 400 OM mark, to get the 4 Blessings for Taskmaster.

Liking the new Omega System to get my heroes stronger and hopefully tough enough for the Raid Bosses!

Current goals:
Deadpool: Level 60 (Prestige Level 5)

Deadpool's Legendary: Rank 5
Earn 400 Odin Marks for Taskmaster's Blessings
Earn 7500 Omega Points
Earn 600 Eternity Splinters for Firestar
Earn 600 Eternity Splinters for Falcon

Current Progress
Deadpool: Prestige Level 3 - Level 29 (Legendary Rank 4)
Gambit: Level 60 (Legendary Rank 5)
Colossus: Level 60 (Legendary Rank 5)
Emma Frost: Level 42
Nightcrawler: Level 31
Doctor Strange: Level 25
Taskmaster: Level 60 (Legendary Rank 5)

Marvel Heroes Diary: Jun 4 2014 - 1st Year Anniversary teasers!

1st Year Anniversary teasers!

Happy 1st Year Anniversary Marvel Heroes!

Today's patch will be adding a whole load of new content as well as new gifts, as well as launch a new year for Marvel Heroes dubbed, 'Marvel Heroes 2015'

There's going to be Login Rewards, 365 Random Gifts, Silver Surfer as new playable hero, Achievements to unlock.

Then there's the Surtur Raid Event for 10 players. Surtur was the fire demon that was teased at the end of the Story mode, after beating Loki. Check out the FAQ here.

A new Omega System for progression above Level 60. FAQ here.

and of course a lot more..

After a slow start and not-so-great reviews in the first few months, Marvel Heroes have come a long way, especially since late last year... and they don't seem to be slowing down. The next year has epic promises and it's going to be real fun.
---
Thankfully, I have my Colossus all ready for the new end-game content. Hoping to get Taskmaster up-to-par so I have more hero options for the end-game stuff.

Just under 100 Odin Marks away from getting 4 Blessings for him. No luck however with the rarer runes but he should be good enough for now, I hope.

First try at exchanging 4 Uniques for a Set of Relics.

Using this Relics for Gambit so that wasn't too bad. Gonna keep doing this to max out the Relics faster.

Marvel Heroes Diary: May 28 2014 - 1st Year Anniversary coming soon!

1st Year Anniversary coming soon!

Just a week or so away now for Marvel Heroes' 1st anniversary. Lots of stuff being planned for us, I heard.

But there's still plenty going on right now. In conjunction of the X-Men: Days of Future Past movie, we have a Siege of the Sentinels event going on.

Already managed to get a full set of Danger AI Chips with all 3 variants.

Still need a Mental Variant with a better roll, I guess. These artifacts aren't too bad it seems. Tried switching out the Advanced Super-Solider Serum artifact for the Physical AI Chip but I needed the extra Spirit and Spirit Regen for TaskMaster. If I can boost his Spirit in other ways, I might give this a 2nd try.

Not having much luck on the Sentinel Parts though.. Only got 2 of the Sentinel Limbs (and those were from the Giftbox!)

Need to destroy more Sentinels!!

Somewhere, between all these events, TaskMaster got his Legendary to Level 5!

Bleed assholes, Bleed!

Marvel Heroes Diary: May 16 2014 - It just keeps getting better!

It just keeps getting better!

Been a while since I updated my MH Diary.. It's not like I haven't been playing though..

The Weekends on MH have been getting better and better. They did the Big 10 event the other week and then the Bounty Hunter Event last week.

And it's not going to stop there. Patch Notes for this week's update is already out, featuring the first of the One-Shot stories. All these leads up to the First Anniversary of Marvel Heroes where a even bigger event awaits us!

Anyway.. Fortune Mark 6 cards were already released and here's mine from the Deluxe Advance Pack..

No luck again unfortunately..

Also been repeating Terminals this week for the drops and after a Gazillion (Haha!) times, the Taskmaster Cosmic Medallion drops! Not too bad in terms of stats but Taskmaster finally has his very own Cosmic Medallion!

Just got to keep on working on the Legendary Quests for more Odin Marks..

Marvel Heroes Diary: Apr 23 2014 - The Task is Complete

The Task is Complete

It's complete!

My Taskmaster has got his full set of Uniques!

I had to use up quite a bit of Item Boosts to find the last two, but it was all worth it. The uniques added a lot of ranks to a lot of the powers and gave Taskmaster an all-round boost to damage and survivability.

Enchant-wise, I still can't decide what to choose for Slots 2,3 & 4. I'm considering going something different for each, instead of focusing on just 1 aspect.

I have the Stone rune for Physical Damage on Slots 1 & 5, until I find more Tyr runes for crit. The rarer runes are getting incredibly hard to find.

Now I'm completing all the story missions for Taskmaster for completion-sake as well as the quest rewards.

Also managed to earn another 400 Splinters for Magik. Paired her up with Colossus (Surprise! Surprise!) and tried out 1 round of X-Def...

Went up to Level 22 on the first try itself. It isn't my highest but higher than my average, which is pretty impressive. Will have to try several more times before I can judge if the Colossus-Magik combo is working wonders or I just had a good team on that run.

Sibling success or first-try luck?
Very excited to keep trying this pair-up in the different zones. Hopefully, I will be able to clear Cosmic Terminals more easily now.

That's 2 out of 4 Team-up Heroes purchased. Gotta farm another 1200 Splinters for Falcon and Firestar..

Marvel Heroes Diary: Apr 19 2014 - Celebrating Easter

Celebrating Easter

Marvel Heroes is celebrating Easter this weekend with themed goodies as always.

Firstly, they had the Easter code (SPRCNDY) to redeem for a nice boost. Real solid boost for 70 mins if I remember correctly.

Log in on Saturday (still active now) to receive a very nice Easter Gift Basket to get a huge drop of goodies.

I'm not sure if there's a standard drop for this but I got a Unique, several Cosmics, a Rune, lots of epics and rares. A very nice drop so don't miss it! Do try to login by the end of the 'game' day to get your Gift.

There's also a daily login gift throughout the weekend.

There's plenty of incentives to play as well. Easter eggs have a chance to drop throughout the game.
Collect these eggs to redeem from a choice of several items. The highlights are the 3 exclusive uniques.

I'm not sure how long these are going to be available so I'm gonna farm my ass off to get these. Why? So I can collect these for my stash.. lol! I'm quite anal about only using uniques specfic to the character. However, I might use a couple of these if I don't have the character-specific unique for that particular slot yet.

I would have preferred more artifacts instead of uniques so I can still use these while keeping to my set of character-specific uniques.

However, some of the stats on these uniques are awesome and it will be a great item for those non-hardcore players who aren't able to get any uniques.

Happy Egg-hunting guys!

Oh yea. I'm also giving away some of my Level 50 Uru-Forged items as there are taking too much space. Do add me in the game, and just let me know what you need. My IGN is DrJengo.

Marvel Heroes Diary: Apr 16 2014 - Taskie is Level 60!

Taskie is Level 60!

Did a new record this week.. I got Taskmaster to Level 60 in a week. I know that's snail slow to some people but that's the fastest I have done so far.

Here's how his Power Tree looks like at Level 60.

I stuck with Rendering Swings as my Basic Melee attack but decided to switch back to .45 Caliber for the Basic Ranged attack.

No changes to the 4 powers that I chose from each of the style. I feel that they compliment each other well, giving a good variety of attacks for mobs and Bosses.

I think that's the beauty of Taskmaster. His ranged and melee powers are very balanced. A lot of the other hybrid heroes do feel that they are better equipped and lean towards one or the other. I play a hybrid Deadpool but he's a better melee fighter. Gambit, on the other hand, is better at ranged. But of course, in games like these.. I guess it all depends on the powers you choose and the items you use..

Whatever it is... Taskmaster seems to be a very balanced character. In most situations, I find that he can go melee or ranged with equal efficiency.

I am going for a fun build with him. That's why I wanted to take 1 power from each of his styles, for the Ultimate Combo. I'm having lots of fun with this build so just trying to make it as strong as it can be.

Also decided to spend my Odin Marks on a Legendary for him, instead of Gambit. I got the Ultimate Nullifier because he has quite a number of powers boosting his Brutal Strike Chance. So, I wanted to take advantage of that.

Remember I was saying I wanted to get Magik as a team-up for Colossus? I'm having too much fun with Taskmaster so I got Spider-Man instead, who I think compliments Taskmaster very well.

Solid character he is. The Team-Ups seem to be making the game easier than it should be, but I'm not going to complain.

I'd like to do a more detailed Taskmaster Build guide soon, let me know in the comments below if you wanna see that.

Marvel Heroes Diary: Apr 11 2014 - Waiting for Team-Ups!

Waiting for Team-Ups!

So, it's that time of the week again on Marvel Heroes.. Friday night over here in Singapore and ample time to spend on Marvel Heroes but.... It's server downtime while we wait for the latest patch.

It's not exactly a bad thing actually.. Because for as long as I can remember, the game has been adding substantial content to the game every week.

Since the start of 2014, every last Friday of the month has seen a new hero added to the playable list. The rest of the weeks have been just as eventful. With drop rates being boosted on almost every weekend and some form of entertaining content being added every now and then, its been hard to get away from this game.

But this weekend is going to be something special.. Team-Ups are coming to Marvel Heroes! You can now purchase support heroes that will be able to fight alongside your hero. Each team-up hero will have their own set of gear and passives. That's the short description.. For the long description, check out the FAQ page for all the detailed info.

First 4 team-up heroes will be Spider-Man, Falcon, Firestar and Magik. First purchase for me will be Magik and I'm pairing her up with who else but Colossus.

I have also been looking for a suitable Team-up for my current Hero, Taskmaster. I have never heard of this guy until I saw him in this game so I made a thread here to get some clues on who would be ideal. I'm not solely looking at the game-play aspect but also at the Marvel history on who Taskmaster has teamed-up with in the comics... And it looks like Deadpool and other Mercenaries will be my best bet. So really hoping 1 of those guys get added to the Team-up roster.

Speaking of Taskmaster, I have rotated among his powers several times already. Yet, I'm not entirely convinced of what I have chosen so far. I'll have to keep working on that.

With the 2 basics; Rendering Swings and Dual Wield, I am still sticking to the 1 power from each type. Just switched it to the following:

Captain - Rebounding Shield
Archer - Tear Gas Arrow
Devil - Cyclone Club
Spider - Web Cocoon

Marvel Heroes Diary: Apr 7 2014 - Enter The Taskmaster!

Enter the Taskmaster!

Marvel Heroes introduced the Taskmaster as an April Fools' Joke, which later became a real playable hero! So, essentially he has become the first playable "villain" as well.

I purchased him for 200 Eternity Splinters as I didn't have enough Gs for the Bundle Pack.

He kinda sucked at first.. his skills are a mash from a couple of other heroes and his basic attacks seem to lack punch. But, as he progressed to the later levels, the better powers started to unlock.

I was also very undecided on which powers to use for him as there were plenty of choices to choose from. Should I go all Captain powers and match it with Archers ones for range? Or all melee? Or ranged? What about his own unique powers?

Then, I decided to stick to stick true to his style, using different powers from each category; so I decided to go with 1 from each category to support his own main powers.

Archer - Deadly Volley
Captain - Shield Crush
Devil - Cyclone Club
Spider - Web Cocoon

And his 2 mains will be non-spirit spenders, Rending Swings and .45 Caliber. The spirit on hit from Rending Swings will be good to recharge his spirit and I like the extra Brutal Strike Rating on .45 Caliber.

I definitely need to play around with different combinations of powers but I think I will stick to having 1 from each category to go with the idea that Taskmaster has stolen powers from different heros.

But I have really enjoyed playing him that I think I'll go all out to Level 60 with this guy. Maybe even do a build guide like the one I did for Colossus. Another thing I like about the playable villains is being able to use their own Medallions for them. Suits them perfectly!
