Got my PCS Shao Kahn Statue!

Just after putting up pics of my MK9 Kitana statue and making a deposit for the MK9 Sub Zero statue, I got a mail that my MK9 Shao Kahn statue is ready for collection. That's a lot of "MK9"s in 1 sentence and a lot of MK9 news in a week.

This guy is a beast! Sorry for using the cliche, but the pics really don't do it justice. As some of you know, I have lost access to the DSLR camera at my previous job so until I get my own, I will have to make do with my iPhone camera.

I will put up better pics once I get hold of a DSLR camera and my thoughts on it. Hopefully, before the Klassic Mortal Kombat statues from Pop Culture Shock are released.

Marvel Heroes Diary: Feb 5 2014 - Lucky Fortune Card

Lucky Fortune Card

Got some real nice luck today. I was playing some X-Defense with Colossus. Used a Credits Boost to earn some nice credits to fund the next Iron Buddy. 

I was at wave 7 when a Fortune Mark 1 card dropped. Opened it to get a RiF boost. Thought I should use it since I'm gonna play X-Defense for a while. So at the end of wave 7, I started the boost and what do you know?! A Unique dropped immediately on the next wave.

Pretty happy with it as I wasn't too satisfied with the current one because of the "+3 to Bold Comrade powers", which was a drop from the previous Courage of Colossus. 

And then another Unique dropped at Wave 10!

Solid upgrade! 

Invulnerability when health drops below 25% will be awesome. 

+1 to Speed and Strength

+3 to "Mutant Powerhouse" powers will be great because a lot of my points are pumped into that tree.

Real solid item!

Also got a couple of cosmics with the RiF boost. That was one lucky Mark 1 card.

These items dropped as well later, making it an overall wonderful day for my Colossus.

Finally a epic Insignia, the spirit upgrade will be a great help for this guy.

Now I just need to get his Legendary Item and he will almost be done. I'm thinking Norn Stones will be a good match for Colossus.

Oh yes, Colossus is now Level 60 so all the upgrades came at a nice time just after he hit the magic 60.

Marvel Heroes Diary: Feb 2 2014 - Enter Nightcrawler!

Enter Nightcrawler!

The first hero of the Advanced Pack dropped  a couple of days back together with the patch that brought the Lunar New Year Celebrations.

Nightcrawler leads the way, with Dr. Strange and Moon Knight coming in the next few months. Since I got the Advanced Pack, I got Nightcrawler with his first 2 costumes.

I definitely prefer the classic costume as it looks more accurate to the X-Men cartoon shows from the 90s. No doubt I will be playing him in in his classic outfit more often that not.

Also in the bundle was his stash.

This is something that is a must for me. Where else would I put my extra costumes and other stuff? Just a little obsession that I have, where I feel "complete" only if the hero has his own hero stash. Notice Loki's hero stash is unlocked even though I purchased him with Eternity Splinters.

and of course 2 retcon devices included as well..

Very important for my play-style.. With the new 52-build, I'd like to re-spec my hero once at level 30 and again at level 60. Of course, I never know when I need more of these, so the ones I get from the missions may also come in handy.

I haven't gotten to trying him yet but his play-style looks to be very unique. His teleportation powers gonna be a blast and will probably be a main part of my build. Will probably mix up the rest with his acrobatic and  sword powers. 

Planning to complete some of my other goals before I try him. Hopefully, that won't take too long..

PlayAsia's Game Deals (4 Feb 2014)

Some really wonderful deals from PlayAsia this week. Several under-rated games in fact.

Two of Quantic Dreams' masterpieces up on sale this week. Heavy Rain and Beyond Two Souls have excelled in a unique way of story-telling in games. You can check out my post about the trial event for Beyond Two Souls. Might give you a better understanding of the game.

Dead Island: Riptide (Special Edition) at US$15.99 is a steal! I really enjoyed the first game and I was excited for the sequel. I lost my save when my old PS3 phat went kapoot so I'm planning to play it again. I can't remember if I already have this or else, I'm getting this deal for myself!

Another great deal for Hitman: Absolution. A couple of friends told me this was pretty good and worth trying. At US$14.99, why not? With a movie in the works, this will be a good time to get into this franchise.

Marvel Heroes Diary: Jan 31 2014 - Celebrating Lunar New Year!

Celebrating Lunar New Year!

Marvel Heroes celebrated the Lunar New Year with some themed stuff, similar to the celebration for Australia Day. 

For 2 weeks, there will be a daily reward in the form of a red envelope. 

Each envelope has a chance to reward players with 1 of several themed items. 

These were my first 2 tries.

The artifact's pretty rewarding in terms of credits. Just equip, use the power and then swap back to your regular artifact and start farming. Enjoy the increased credit drops for the next 10 minutes. Rinse and repeat after the 2 hour cool-down.

Lanterns have a sell/donate value of 888 credits/xp so you can use that for your crafter or for more credits!

The lanterns also have a chance of dropping in the game when you defeat enemies, together with the Lunar Dragon, which is rarer but with a higher value. Managed to find a couple of those.

Always great for donating to the various vendors.

For the celebration, Mandarin has been buffed and has increased rewards as well. Did a couple of runs on him but nothing significant has dropped for me so far. Will have to keep trying!

The new patch has also added Nightcrawler as a playable hero. He is available for purchase in a variety of ways. He was included to my roster automatically as I had purchased the Advance Pack.

Comes in 2 outfits, Classic and Modern.

Series 2 Assassin's Creed figures from McFarlane spotted!

Spotted these new figures from the McFarlane's Assassin's Creed series! These figures will apparently be included in Series 2, possibly among others.

As rumoured, Adewale from AC IV makes a first appearance as a figure!

Looks good but a bit too skinny I feel. He needs to be more buffed.

And there's Aveline from AC Liberation

As I mentioned before, there isn't a better time to release a Aveline figure than now. Possibly, someone at McFarlane thinks so too!

Completing the trio.. we have another variant of Connor.

This will be the 4th variant of Connor if you are counting. Figure looks exactly the same as the Connor figure, except for the head with the hood drawn backwards.

I'm cool with variants.. In fact, I welcome them. It will be interesting for the collection to have variations of a single Assassin, as long as they don't overdo it.

Several repaints of the same figure over and over again can lead to fatigue but if they carefully add a couple of unique variations together with new Assassin figures, it will be cool.

I have only spotted these 3 so far, but there could be more figures for Series 2, if they follow in the footsteps of Series 1. Possibly a couple of supporting characters from the games?

Great to see McFarlane fulfilling their promise of releasing Assassin figures apart from the main four. Adewale and Aveline have a decent base of fans and they will be happy. 

Now to see if McFarlane can go up a notch with Assassins from the first 2 games... A collection of all the Assassins is still a dream that most companies have failed till now. However, McFarlane seem to be on the right track..

Marvel Heroes Diary: Jan 30 2014 - Hey Buddy!

Hey Buddy!

Managed to earn enough credits to purchase the Green Iron Buddy. I had to stop donating items to the enchanter but instead sell all of those. Gambit's Synergy of +5 credits and Kingpin's Medallion also helped rake in the credits but finally got him.

Will be a fun little project collecting all the different coloured Iron Buddies. Gonna be real expensive though! 1mill credits for the first one was the cheapest, it gets progressively more pricier after that.

Also got another unique for Colossus.

And then not too long after, got the same one again..

Most of the stats are better but with less RIF, critical rating and only +3 to "Bold Comrade" powers. I might try upgrading the first one to level 60 to see if I can better the stats offered by the newer unique.

Also found my first "Uru Gear" drops.

Apparently these Uru-Gear will be part of the new Enchanter recipes that will be released soon so I can only imagine how much better these gear will become.

As I write this post, I'm downloading the new patch for Marvel Heroes. The new patch will feature the Lunar New Year celebration with themed goodies and several game-play updates. The patch also comes with the newest playable hero, Nightcrawler!

Having bought the Advance pack, Nightcrawler will be included in my hero roster already. Can't wait to try this guy out. I'm a huge fan of the X-Men 90s' TV Series. Although Nightcrawler didn't feature heavily in the shows, I enjoyed his occasional appearances. Will be interesting to see how he plays out, especially the teleportation powers.
