Assassin's Creed Movie Details

There have been plenty of Assassin's Creed movie news appearing on the internet for the past year and even before that.

I have heard everything.. From the movie being set in Jerusalem (Following AC1's storyline) to Rome (AC2's storyline).. Movie's coming out in 2015, filming has started, script being re-written for the umpteenth time and even Robert Downey Jr being cast as Leonardo da Vinci etc etc.

Some of these came from reliable news sites while others were from fan groups with no concrete sources.

The one constant was however Michael Fassbender's role in the movie.

Recently, however.. there seems to be some concrete info on the movie's details, with Gamespot's article and even IMDB updating their site with the following synopsis..

"Convicted felon Michael Lynch is recruited by a company called "Abstergo" to explore the mind of his ancestor in order to recover a sacred artifact."

Whether they have replaced Desmond Miles' name & origins, or is Michael Lynch a new "Subject" remains to be seen.

The movie is dated for a release date for Dec 21 2016, which gives some hope that the movie has finally been scheduled and will not be following in the footsteps of other game movies like God of War, Mortal Kombat and inFamous.

With so many videogame-based movies not doing well, there is definitely huge pressure on this project, especially with Ubisoft's other title, Prince of Persia not meeting up to expectations. (Boohoo!!!).

In this current gaming generation, I can't think of a bigger gaming franchise than Assassin's Creed. If this doesn't do well, I seriously doubt any other video game franchise can do better.

Thoughts on Mortal Kombat X Comic #1

You guys read the comic already?

After a long wait for the first issue of the comic, it was great to finally get the digital copy downloaded.

The first issue of the comic is divided into 3 digital comic issues and unfortunately, like the image above suggests.. we didn't get to see the infamous battle between Scorpion and Sub Zero.

That didn't mean the 27 pages of the digital copy didn't feed us with some action.. In fact, we got to see a fatality just a few pages into the comic and even a X-ray!

There were several old characters appearing in the comic, some of whom have not made an appearance in the current timeline yet (MK 9).. and from the looks of it.. may never appear in MK X or in another game.

(A few minor spoilers after this image, to give you a feel of where the comic is heading.. I'll leave out the important bits however.)

As seen in teaser images, the comic starts off with Kenshi running from the Red Dragon clan with a young boy. The Red Dragon clan catches up with them and just as things don't look good for them, in comes Scorpion with a bang.

Red Dragon backs off and we see Scorpion as a human, in charge of the Shirai Ryu clan once again with new recruits.

Kenshi soon leaves to avenge a death and leaves the boy, Takeda, in Scorpion, or rather Hanzo's care.

It's revealed that Kenshi helped Hanzo conquer "Scorpion" and there's a cool dialogue of Kenshi telling Hanzo about how he should know about devoting yourself to vengeance, (Referring to Hanzo's quest for vengeance that ultimately turned him into the wraith, Scorpion.

The scene changes to a Red Dragon temple where Sub Zero gets into a vault protected by Red Dragon minions only to be caught off-guard by Kano. Here it is also revealed that Sub Zero was with Quan Chi in the past but is now working for Raiden. Kano cuts Sub Zero across the eye, mocking him that he was lied to by Raiden and that it's time for Sub Zero to learn the "truth about the Curse of the Kamidogu".

The first issue is a treat for long-time fans and this prequel comic series is meant to piece MK9 and MKX together, filling up the gap between the 2 games. There's plenty of questions raised within these first few pages already.

1) How did 'Hanzo defeat Scorpion'?
I believe that this is used metaphorically to claim that Hanzo is now nott hell-bent on revenge, probably after learning the truth. In glimpses in the comic, you can still see that he has his 'wraith powers.

2) How crucial is the boy, Takeda? Will he be part of the new-generation of  fighters in the MK X game?
Very possible, considering he is now under Scorpion's care, who tells Takeda that the Shirai Ryu do not run, they fight. Takeda will probably be trained to be a fighter with a mix of Kenshi's and Scorpion's powers.

3) Everything about Sub Zero? Who is this Sub Zero? Bi-han, Kuai Liang or someone else? What was his connection with Quan Chi and why is he looking for the dagger for Raiden?
I really have no clue about which Sub Zero this is. Was Bi-Han released from Quan Chi's clutches as Noob Saibot? Or was the cyborg Kuai Liang from MK9 given back his human form after he supposedly died and got resurrected by Quan Chi?

Perhaps, Quan Chi had Kuai Liang under his control after resurrecting him?

4) The Kamidogu?
What's the Curse of the Kamidogu as mentioned by Kano? And what is the deal with it? I'm not an expert in the MK lore but from the Mortal Kombat wiki, it's mentioned that Onaga used Shujinoko to unite the Kamidogu which will bring Onaga back into power.

Onaga? That will make me 1 very happy person..

So many questions and hopefully we will receive the answers soon. Definitely can't wait for the 2nd issue.

The comic stays true to the violent theme of the games and there's plenty of blood and gore in these few pages already. We have already seen a fatality of a known character. (Poor guy, he barely had a few panels of 'screen time'.)

So far, the comic looks to be made for fans of the series, rather than first-time entrants into the Mortal Kombat lore. That's perfect for someone like me, who's looking to see what happens after MK9 and fill in the missing parts before MKX.

Also, I certainly think that the comic has set itself up very nicely for a long future. There's plenty of stories to tell about the Mortal Kombat lore, about the events after MK9. Hopefully, we will get to hear them all.

AC Unity Dead Kings DLC coming next week for free!

Here's the cinematic trailer for the upcoming Dead Kings DLC for Assassin's Creed Unity.

Because of the early launch issues, this one will be free for all of us, so don't forget to enjoy some free extended gameplay!

Based on the trailer, it looks like Napoleon Bonaparte will play some role in this DLC as it looks like him at 0:27. Assumably, a negative role as he's seen paying off some grave robbers. Certain fan sites have also found hints that Napoleon has posession of the Apple of Eden.

Check out this video by ACConspiracies. Nice find by them!

It's always great to get additional story DLC after the game, but when it's free.. that's just awesome!

Updated Collection Display - Day 2

<<< Back to Day 1

Not many changes made but had some time to work on the display on Friday..

Barely touched the last shelf on the right so here's a closer look at some of the changes. AC IV display at the top left, with the 3 Edward Kenway statues and some of the smaller display items taking up some space.

The NECA Assassin's Creed collection just below that.

A bit of room for something else? I need a better idea for storing the extra accessories though.

Claptrap's all alone below. I have the other 2 variants, still in their packaging.. just missing the Gentleman variant. Those should go nice alongside each other.

Most of the McFarlane Assassin's Creed figures have booked their spaces on the display.. but I just realised the Series 2 ones are missing. I remember bringing them over, so it should be in one of those boxes. Together with the Connor variants, they are going to fill up the shelf.

I'll need to bring in the rest of the UbiCollectibles collection. They will find some space at the top once I unbox the rest,

PCS Collectibles' Scorpion is all alone at the bottom. The other MK 9 statues and the Klassic Ninjas have to wait for a while longer, These big ones are going to take up a lot of room.

That's all for now.

Kombatant #10 - Kung Lao and Online Factions!

Are you counting?!

Coz I'm losing count..

Kung Lao has been revealed as the next Kombatant in MK X! Here are some screen-grabs posted online by various sources..

Last pic looks almost like Shang Tsung, since he is apparently 25 years older now.
First pic shows a more razor-edged hat which looks like it will be a design for certain variants of Kung Lao. Thankfully.. since I prefer the classic round-hat look.

This is also raises questions on whether Kung Lao died at the MK9 battle, which many presumed he was. Of course, Quan Chi's involvement could have something to do with it.

In more MK X news, IGN talks about online features to include factions. Players can choose from 5 factions; Lin Kuei, Brotherhood of Shadows, White Lotus Society, Special Forces & Black Dragon. Battle points earned for each faction will determine how in-game menus will look, and possibly other stuff.

What do you think of his older look? Still looks pretty good to me!

A New Year and a New Interest..

Happy New Year to one and all!

Was over at my parents' place on New Year's eve and we were watching the movie, 47 Ronin

And now I have a sudden interest in playing Ninja Gaiden.

I know Samurais and Ninjas aren't the same but probably it's something to do with fighting huge monsters with a sword.

I tried the first Ninja Gaiden Sigma's demo and remember being so put off by the game's difficulty, that I didn't get it. I enjoyed the combat but it was just too tough that it was frustrating.

After this movie though, I feel like giving it another try.

Question is.. Should I get the PS3 games or could there be a Remastered bundle for the PS4 in the future?

Anyone tried the Ninja Gaiden games? What do you guys think? Will an average skilled gamer like me be able to complete it? Any news about a Remastered version?
